Hey, I need to talk to you about something really quick. It's probably better to do in person, I don't want this getting back to me.

[ Despite sending audio messages to Lucifer and Claire, with Loki as his acting warden for the month this may go over better face to face where Rhys can gauge his reaction. ]

[This response comes roughly two and a half days later, but not long after Loki wakes up.]

I apologize for not seeing this sooner.
I was incapacitated, which I'm sure you've heard already.
I'll be by the dorms once I've freshened up.

[Which he has, when he finds Rhys an hour later. But he still looks like absolute shit. That's likely due to the scowl, though.]

Let me guess. Your message was going to be, "Theo is planning to escape"?

[ When the messaged pinged Rhys couldn't help but cringe a little, so much for that....but it's not his fault Loki didn't see.

Loki will find Rhys in the cafeteria, no longer staring wistfully out at at the port he has been denied access to (it's too painful) and instead picking at some kinda gluten free, vegan, whatever else version of black forest cake that the automated machines offered up today (he skipped proper lunch)

He gives Loki his best "whoopsie daisy!" smile. ]

That was the gist, yeah. Points for trying?

[Loki stares at Rhys blandly.]

And how long were you aware of Theo's plan?

[ C'mon, coach! Points for trying! ]

Since he told me?

[Deep breaths. Too tired to get enraged.]

Which was how long ago, exactly?

[Loki waves a hand, rolling his eyes.]

Never mind. Unless it was ten seconds before you sent that message, it was far too late to matter. And that was the point, wasn't it? [He crosses his arms across his chest, settling more heavily against the wall.] Play both sides. If Theo succeeds, maybe you can make a run for it too. If not, you tried to warn me, so clearly you weren't complicit.

[Ymir's balls. That much sarcasm is just making his head ache. He sighs, kneading a knuckle into his temple, eyes closed.]

Sadly, that's a playbook I've used far too many times myself to fall for it.

[Hel, he used it enough that even Thor came to expect it.]

[ Honestly, Rhys is pretty surprised he even got part of his intentions correct. But even still, that's not entirely right.

He puts on an affronted expression, because he kind of is. ]

Uh, you really think I'd make a break for it after last time? I let you know the same day I got told, it's not my fault you didn't check your messages. Next time I'll put a big "EMERGENCY" sign in the subject, okay?

[ Theo's plan had always been too risky to bother getting on board with, the both sides started and ended with no one telling on Rhys. ]

No, you're right. I should have seen it. But waiting until it was too late hasn't won you any points.

[He sighs. He can't believe he's saying this.]

You're not getting any further punishment. I'm just disappointed.

Are you serious? So I did the right thing and I'm still getting told off for it, cool.

[ Right thing, wrong reasons but still. He can't believe he's getting chewed out from the side he was helping, he still took a risk there. ]

What was I supposed to do better here?

Try and convince him it's in his best interest to run away, for starters. But I'd personally prefer a warning that gives me enough time to react.

[He can't believe he's prompting this exercise, but apparently he has to.]

Imagine I withheld the same information from you, and you ended up knocked unconscious. I find it hard to believe you wouldn't be annoyed.
