No, you're right. I should have seen it. But waiting until it was too late hasn't won you any points.

Are you serious? So I did the right thing and I'm still getting told off for it, cool.

[ Right thing, wrong reasons but still. He can't believe he's getting chewed out from the side he was helping, he still took a risk there. ]

Try and convince him it's in his best interest to run away, for starters. But I'd personally prefer a warning that gives me enough time to react.

Imagine I withheld the same information from you, and you ended up knocked unconscious. I find it hard to believe you wouldn't be annoyed.
