Yes, definitely! Canon's pretty low on detailed explanations, but the artifact's "dark energy" was causing physical deterioration that knocked him out, temporarily blinded him, and caused hallucinations about possible futures -- this was repaired by using one of them to share life forces between him and an alien with a lot of excess dark energy. He's healed of the blindness, collapsing and hallucinations, and the alien's powers were severely reduced, so my hypothesis is that, although he's powerless, he's running on about half his original life force and about half dark energy transfusion at this point.

... So, there are probably a lot of fun ways to mess up that balance!
